Our Story

Southeast Specialty Foods was built from a belief that great small businesses do not have to lose their identity in order to grow.

Our journey began with entrepreneurship in specialty coffee and expanded as opportunities arose to acquire and grow established brands with loyal customers and strong foundations.

Today, we work across every part of our businesses, from sourcing, production, inventory, and fulfillment to retail operations, wholesale development, marketing, and customer experience.

We believe successful growth comes from understanding what already makes a brand special, strengthening the systems behind it, and finding new opportunities to introduce it to more customers.

-2021

Cold Blooded Caffeine Company

Our journey into specialty food and beverage began with the launch of Cold Blooded Caffeine Company, a specialty coffee brand created around great coffee, conservation, and a passion for doing business differently.

-2022

The Coffee Run

The portfolio expanded with the acquisition of The Coffee Run, bringing office coffee delivery, service, and distribution into the business.

-2024

Slather Brand Foods

Slather Brand Foods joined the family, bringing its Southern-inspired Slatherin' Sauce and an established retail and wholesale presence.

-2025

Lowcountry Olive Oil

The acquisition of Lowcountry Olive Oil expanded the company into specialty retail, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, blending, wholesale, and direct-to-consumer sales.

TODAY

What began with one brand has grown into a family of businesses supported by shared experience in operations, distribution, retail, manufacturing, logistics, and brand development.

And we're still building.

Our Journey

About Us

Southeast Specialty Foods is a Charleston-based company focused on building, operating, and growing specialty food and beverage brands with strong products, authentic stories, and room to grow.

Our portfolio has grown through both entrepreneurship and acquisition, bringing together brands across specialty coffee, sauces, olive oils, balsamics, retail, and distribution.

While each of our brands has its own identity, customers, and story, they share something important: a commitment to quality and an opportunity to become something even greater.

Trey Hall is co-owner and CEO of Southeast Specialty Foods, where he helps guide the company’s overall direction, growth, and business development across its portfolio of specialty food and beverage brands.

Trey’s entrepreneurial journey into specialty food and beverage has an unconventional beginning. A longtime reptile keeper, his interest in reptiles helped inspire the creation of Cold Blooded Caffeine Company, which became one of the first businesses that eventually helped shape the Southeast Specialty Foods portfolio.

Today, Trey remains actively involved in growing the company and supporting its brands while continuing to enjoy reptile keeping as a personal hobby. Outside of Southeast Specialty Foods, he also owns family land used for timber farming, reflecting another side of his interest in stewardship, long-term growth, and building assets that can be passed down over time.
